Bus Tour of Haunted Ocean City, Berlin and Surrounding Areas

Enjoy this ghost and graveyard tour of Maryland’s seaside county that includes over 20 sites and 2 graveyards – one is a possible mass grave. SITES ON THE  TOUR include the Atlantic Hotel, the Pitts House, Adkins Hardware, site of the “elemental” – the healing treee,  the lady in White, the Rackliffe House (Haunted Tri-fecta), the Assateague Indian, Ocean City Lifesaving Station Museum, Dunes Manor Hotel, Trimper’s Carousel, Shoreham Hotel,  Captain’s Hill and the only marked grave in Ocean City. WE DO NOT ENTER THE PRIVATE PROPERTIES, but guests may have the opportunity to go inside the properties open to the public.  This is a tour from the bus, but we will deboard at OC Lifesaving station, Rackliffe House, Dunes Manor and the graveyards.

COST: $32 per person.   Includes  one seat on the bus and transportation to all sites with a private tour guide for about 4 hours.  Meeting place for boarding the bus is listed below.  Keep scrolling.  Advanced Registration is required.

WHAT TO EXPECT: The tour will last approximately 4 hours. Most of that time will be spent on the bus, but there will be several places where guests will be able to disembark and take photographs – including the Dunes Manor and all the graveyards. Guests may choose to overnight at any one of the haunted hotel / B&Bs – Dunes Manor Hotel, Atlantic Hotel or Atlantic House B&B.

TIPS / GRATUITIES – The cost of the ticket does not include the gratuity for your tour guide or the bus driver. If you enjoyed the walk, please consider tipping your guide and driver as a sign of appreciation.

GUEST DRAWING FOR BOOK & WALKING TOUR  –  Those who register for the  Ghost & Graveyard Tour will be entered into a drawing done on the bus at the end of the tour for a copy of Burgoyne’s newest book, The Haunted Mid-Shore and a gift certificate for two tickets to any one of the ten Eastern Shore ghost walks offered by Burgoyne’s company, Chesapeake Ghost Walks. 

MEETING PLACE AND WEATHER: Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time of the tour and check in with the guide and bus driver. Tour will leave the premises promptly at 12:30 pm. Also note that we do not cancel for rain. In the event that the weather is wet, be sure to bring an umbrella and waterproof clothing and shoes. There are opportunities for getting off of the bus and walking. 

CELL PHONE:  Be sure to list your cell phone number so that we can contact you in the unlikely event we need to cancel due to weather or emergency.

CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS:  Full refund will be given if cancellation is made 48 hours prior to the tour’s start.  If cancellation is NOT made within 48 hours of the tour, no refunds will be given.  However, all registrations are transferable, so feel free to allow a friend or family member to attend in your place.  Just give them your order voucher.

TIME & WEATHER:
We tour in all kinds of weather except  weather that is hazardous to public safety.  You’ll be warm and dry on the bus, but dress for the weather because you will have the opportunity to walk in the graveyards and on some of the neighborhood streets.

  • Bring your umbrella if it looks like rain
  • Bring a coat for the sites where the group gets off the bus (and proper shoes)
  • Bring your camera.  Picture taking is part of the fun.

Miss Thelma Conner a Legend and a Spirit

Some people think that Miss Thelma Conner is still in charge at the Dunes Manor Hotel on 28th Street  in Ocean City, Maryland. This is particularly strange because Miss Thelma passed away in 1999. But she’s been seen by staff and guests and even mentioned on TripAdvisor in the last fifteen years.  Of course, people who never knew Miss Thelma in life would be able to recognize her  because of the larger-than-life portrait (aside a matching portrait of her husband Milton) of her that dominates the hotel’s grand entrance.

Considering what Miss Thelma had to endure in order to fulfill her life-long dream of building a grand hotel on the ocean, it’s no wonder she’s still hanging around. She and her husband, Milton rans the Dunes Motel for years and they always dreamed of building a big Victorian hotel on the ocean, and they had the land to do it, but time got away from them and before they could achieve their dream, Milton passed away. Book Launch - Mindie Burgoyne

On Saturday, October 11, 2014 from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm at the Dunes Manor Hotel in Ocean City, Mindie Burgoyne will be present to sign and sell copies of her latest book – Haunted Ocean City and Berlin. The book was published by The History Press and is Mindie’s second book in their “Haunted America” series. Books sold at this launch will be the first of this edition publicly sold.

Everyone is welcome and there is no cost to attend.  The launch coincides with the Dunes Manor’s afternoon tea, so guests can take advantage of these complimentary refreshments along with the spectacular ocean views from the Dunes Manor upper lobby.
