Bus Tour of Haunted Dorchester – Hoopers Island, Blackwater, Church Creek & Cambridge

ENTER TWO PROPERTIES – 2 GRAVEYARDS
Guests will be able to enter 2 properties on this tour – a haunted bakery and a haunted restaurant – famous for being home to “Mary’s Ghost.” Guests will also see the “singing Yew Tree” in one of the old graveyards.  4 hour bus tour (restroom on board) with 3 stops and a ride through some of the most gorgeous – and creepy landscapes in Maryland.

DIRECTIONS TO MEETING PLACE – DORCHESTER COURT HOUSE– meet in front of the Dorchester County Courthouse on High and Spring Streets in Cambridge.  (40-45 mins from Bay Bridge)  There is parking on the street and parking in the lot behind the Dorchester Center for the Arts. For that lot, head up High Street (away from the water), turn right on Locust Street and then another right into the parking lot.  SEE LINK at the bottom of this page under VENUE. Keep scrolling.

SITES ON THE  TOUR include Decoursey Bridge where ghost of Big Lizz has been seen, and Old Salty’s on Hoopers Island, Harriet Tubman’s homeplace, Old Trinity Church the Wild Men of Andrews, the Cowman of Crocheron, the Old Lady at Bishops Head, Lady in White, Seven Gates of Hell,  several properties in downtown Cambridge … and more.

COST: $32 per person.   Includes  one seat on the bus and transportation to all sites with a private tour guide for about 4- 4.5 hours.  Meeting place for boarding the bus is listed below.  Keep scrolling.  Advanced Registration is required.

STOP AT OLD SALTY’S —
There will be an opportunity to enter Old Salty’s  and see the inside of the building  We’ll have almost 30 minutes to roam that haunted property and maybe hear from some of the staff. 

WHAT TO EXPECT: The tour will last approximately 4 hours. The tour begins with a brief walk to properties in downtown Cambridge and then continues on the bus. Most of the time will be spent on the bus, but there will be several places where guests will be able to disembark and take photographs – including all the graveyards.  PLEASE EAT LUNCH BEFORE THE TOUR as this is a long tour. We expect to be back between 4:30 and 5:00 pm.

TIPS / GRATUITIES – The cost of the ticket does not include the gratuity for your tour guide or the bus driver. If you enjoyed the walk, please consider tipping your guide and driver as a sign of appreciation.

MEETING PLACE AND WEATHER: Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time of the tour and check in with the guide and bus driver. Tour will start promptly at 12:30 pm. Also note that we do not cancel for rain. In the event that the weather is wet, be sure to bring an umbrella and waterproof clothing and shoes. Ghost & Graveyard TALBOT Bus Tour – Easton, St. Michaels & Oxford 1/29/17

Witches, sea captains, sailors, ladies of the evening and lost children are all subjects of the haunted sites on this 4 hour bus tour of haunted Talbot County, MD. 14-17 sites and 5 historic graveyards.

SITES ON THE TALBOT GHOST AND GRAVEYARD BUS TOUR include Whitemarsh Cemetery, Robert Morris Inn, Unionville, the Hanging Tree, Navy Point (brothel, steam boat captain’s house), The Oaks, Talbot Courthouse & Jail and the Harrison Graves (18th century graves not open to the public). Hear the stories about the Kissing Ghost at The Wilderness, the  Witches of Plain Dealing and the unrestful spirits of the Tilghman family at Plinhimmon Plantation.

Some of the sites will be seen only from the bus as the group drives by, but there will be places to deboard  and take a closer look . We will deboard the bus at The Robert MorrisInn in Oxford and have the opportunity to go inside and spend a little while. We’ll also deboard at the Harrison gravesite, Navy Point in St. Michaels, the Talbot Courthouse in Easton and at all three graveyards.

WE WILL NOT BE GOING INSIDE ANY OF THE PROPERTIES, except  The Robert Morris Inn where you’ll be able to buy yourself a drink and explore the lower level.

Ghost & Graveyard SOMERSET Bus Tour – Princess Anne – Crisfield – Marion 1/21/17

The Somerset Ghost and Graveyard Bus Tour will include 4 historic graveyards and over 20 haunted sites in Somerset County, Maryland. This is a 4 hour tour that will include sites between Princess Anne and Crisfield including Burgoyne’s own haunted house in Marion Station. Guests will experience most of the tour from the comfort of a luxury motor coach (restroom on board), but will be able to get off the bus and see the graveyards up close as well as some of the sites in Princess Anne.

The Spirit of Zippy Lewis Still Seen Combing the Beaches

The Eternal Beachcomber

This painting of Zipporah – “Zippy” Lewis was painted  by  artist, David O. Bunting and it hangs in the Dunes Manor Hotel in Ocean City. It’s created from his imagination as there were never any pictures of the famous beachcomber. She was born around 1812 in Delaware – probably near Fenwick Island. She married Jonathan Lewis when she was sixteen and they lived in a shack on the beach. Jonathan was a sailor.

In1847 Jonathan and Zippy had five children. Jonathan went out to sea, but never returned. Zippy walked the beach for years looking out for his ship on the horizon … hoping he would find his way home. Take Maryland Avenue East off of Route 50. Turn left on Academy Street, then take the second right into the parking lot.  You will see the sign for the Chesapeake College (Cambridge campus). TIME & WEATHER:
We tour in all kinds of weather except  weather that is hazardous to public safety.  Dress for the weather because you will have the opportunity to get off the bus at several locations.

  • Bring your umbrella if it looks like rain – and shoes for walking in graveyards.
  • Bring a coat for the sites off the bus (and proper shoes)
  • Bring your camera.  Picture taking is part of the fun. (no audio recording)

tour will include sites between Princess Anne and Crisfield including Burgoyne’s own haunted house in Marion Station. Guests will experience most of the 4-hour tour from the comfort of a luxury motor coach (restroom on board), but will be able to get off the bus and see the graveyards up close as well as some of the sites in Princess Anne.

4 historic graveyards and over 20 haunted sites in Somerset County, Maryland. This is one in a series of six bus tours offered by Burgoyne’s company, Chesapeake Ghost Walks taking place during the colder months of the year – January through March. This Saturday’s tour will include sites between Princess Anne and Crisfield including Mindie Burgoyne’s own haunted house in Marion Station. Guests will experience most of the tour from the comfort of a luxury motor coach (restroom on board), but will be able to get off the bus and see the graveyards up close as well as some of the sites in Princess Anne. 

SITES ON THE SOMERSET GHOST AND GRAVEYARD BUS TOUR include Teackle Mansion, the old Somerset jail (very haunted), Samuel Tull House, Cry Baby Bridge (Marion), McCready Hospital, Ananias Crockett House, Ira Todd House, Vance Miles House (Burgoyne’s home), the Crisfield Library, Captain Leonard Tawes’ House and the old Richard Christy house. Graveyards include St. Andrews Episcopal Church, St. Paul’s Church (site of Luke’s Grave), Crisfield Cemetery and the Tull Graveyard.

Famous ghosts & stories featured on the tour: The ghost of Elizabeth Upshur Teackle, Ghost of Judge Sanford, The Hanged Man in Princess Anne, Little Annie Conner and Cry Baby Bridge, Lukes Grave, Old Ailsey’s Light, Little Olive Tull Left Behind, and the Spirit Vortex in Marion. WE WILL NOT BE GOING INSIDE ANY OF THE PROPERTIES.

GUEST DRAWING FOR BOOK & WALKING TOUR  –  Those who register for the Somerset Ghost & Graveyard Tour will be entered into a drawing done on the bus at the end of the tour for a copy of Burgoyne’s newest book, Haunted Ocean City & Berlin and a gift certificate for two to any one of the ten Eastern Shore ghost walks offered by Burgoyne’s company, Chesapeake Ghost Walks. 

COST: $29 per person.  Includes  one seat on the bus and transportation to all sites with a private tour guide for about 4 hours.  Meeting place for boarding the bus is listed on the Ticket page.

Ghost & Graveyard Bus Tour – Easton, St. Michaels & Oxford

Witches, sea captains, sailors, ladies of the evening and lost children are all subjects of the haunted sites on this 4 hour bus tour of haunted Talbot County, MD. 14-17 sites and 5 historic graveyards.

SITES ON THE TALBOT GHOST AND GRAVEYARD BUS TOUR include Whitemarsh Cemetery, Robert Morris Inn, Unionville, the Hanging Tree, Navy Point (brothel, steam boat captain’s house), The Oaks, Talbot Courthouse & Jail and the Harrison Graves (18th century graves not open to the public). Hear the stories about the Kissing Ghost at The Wilderness, the  Witches of Plain Dealing and the unrestful spirits of the Tilghman family at Plinhimmon Plantation.

Some of the sites will be seen only from the bus as the group drives by, but there will be places to deboard  and take a closer look . We will deboard the bus at The Robert MorrisInn in Oxford and have the opportunity to go inside and spend a little while. We’ll also deboard at the Harrison gravesite, Navy Point in St. Michaels, the Talbot Courthouse in Easton and at all three graveyards.

WE WILL NOT BE GOING INSIDE ANY OF THE PROPERTIES, except  The Robert Morris Inn where you’ll be able to buy yourself a drink and explore the lower level.
